David Oredugba saapuu vahvistamaan Roostersin takakenttää
Roosters saa tällä viikolla vahvistusta kokoonpanoonsa amerikkalaisen David Oredugban muodossa. Oredugba on pelannut kulmapuolustajana v. 2004-2008 Northwesternin yliopistossa korkeatasoisessa Big Ten –konferenssissa. 189-senttinen ja 93-kiloinen Oredugba on saanut tunnustusta erityisesti fyysisenä miespuolustajana ja kovana erikoisjoukkuepelaajana – näiden roolien lisäksi hänet tullaan ensi kesänä näkemään myös Roostersin vaarallisen heittohyökkäyksen osana laitahyökkääjän paikalla. Oredugba on suorittanut pelaamisen ohessa viestinnän alan tutkinnon Northwesternissä ja suorittaa tällä hetkellä jatkotutkintoaan urheilumarkkinoinnissa.
Oredugba nähtäneen tositoimissa ensi kertaa sunnuntain Trojans-ottelussa, sitä odotellessa kannattaa lukea alla oleva haastattelu.

Tell us about the place you live
Born in Los Angeles, an amazing city. The weather is nice year round. Like
any major city LA has a lot to offer. It is very culturally diverse city,
which is nice because it embedded in me an appreciation and openness to
cultures outside of mine. Hollywood is major part of the city, so with this
it’s not uncommon to run into celebrities on daily basis. You’re also bound
to see your friends in movies or on television, as a lot of people are in
the entertainment industry. One thing cool about Los Angeles, that people
may not know, is that you can go snowboarding and surfing in the same day in
LA. It might be 75 degrees in the city but you can drive 1 hour outside the
city and can snowboard on one of the many mountains surrounding the city. I
love the beach and snowboarding, so this is always cool to me.
When did you start playing football? Your first team?
Played mainly basketball growing up as l grew up idolizing the Lakers. Did
not start playing football until senior year of HS. I was fortunate to play
well and earn a football scholarship to Northwestern.

You have a big role in our team and a lot is expected, what do you
think of that ?
I think it’s a cool that a lot is expected. I am excited by the opportunity
of being a difference maker on a talented Rooster squad. I am excited by the
fact that my talents will be utilized in a variety of ways. I hope to do
whatever it takes for the Roosters to win the Maple Title.
What do you expect to bring to the team?
I plan to do whatever it takes to win. I am a versatile player, and a
dynamic athlete. I bring to the team a talented CB who can stick any and
every receiver. I am a playmaker who loves having the ball and making plays.
I have never been on a championship team, but I hope to change this reality
with the Roosters.
What do you expect from your time in Finland, on and off the field?
I am ecstatic about the opportunity to be in Finland, and am eager to take
in everything the country has to offer. I’m a very open minded and
adventurous person, and will embrace Finland with open arms. As they say
when in “Rome do as the Romans”; while in Finland I plan “to do as the
Finnish”. I understand that during the summer Helsinki is a great place to
be, because of the nice weather, festivals, midnight sunsets. While in
Finland I hope to forge many lifelong friendships. I am excited about
meeting my teammates and look forward to a successful season.
What did you know about Finland before starting this recruitment process?
I know that hockey is a big deal, and that Teemu Selänne who played for the
Anaheim Mighty Ducks is from Finland I know that Nokia is a Finnish
corporation. I know that the Helsinki hosted an Olympics and that some of
the James Bond movies where filmed in Finland. I am excited to discover
more.
Do you want to say something to the team in Finland?
Lets get this title, and have fun in the process.
Have you heard the rumor that polar bears are loose on the streets
here? Do you believe it?
Actually heard about this on the Discovery Chanel, they were saying that
Finnish polar Bears can speak Chinese. So I look pretty forward to talking
to a polar bear when I go to Helsinki. : )
Do you know from which country Santa Claus originates?
Santa Claus is from Uganda.
